48 hours

Our 48 hours in the Riebeek Valley.

My wife and I spent a wonderful weekend in the Riebeek Valley. It took us only 1 hour to drive from Cape Town and the drive led us to a completely different landscape that we were use to. On entering the valley, we stopped for a wine tasting at one of the many wine farms in the valley, on our way to our Guesthouse.

Our accommodation in Riebeek West was just perfect, with lovely views, and warm hospitality. The owners advised us an excellent restaurant for dinner, which was a few minutes away from the guest house. The next morning we had a great breakfast in a coffee shop on the square in Riebeek Kasteel. My wife went shopping in the quaint and colourful, Short Street while I spent my time doing some beer tasting in one of the local breweries (there are two local breweries in the Valley, amazing).

Then we had a great cooking experience with a local chef teaching us Indian cooking paired with absolutely fabulous wines sourced from the local wine farms. For the rest of the afternoon, we relaxed next to the pool of our guesthouse before going out for dinner in town.

The next day, after a lovely breakfast, we went for a MTB ride on the gravel roads surrounding the Valley. Then we were ready for a wine & olive tasting in an other wine farm. We had an early dinner and left for our home in the Mother City.

We will definitely come back. 48H in the Valley is absolutely too short…..”
